A proof of concept for a future lighting arrangement, but beautiful in its own right.
Integrated bedside lighting
Adapting to the client’s needs of multi-function bedroom lighting for bedtime reading, general lighting, and no hard-wiring. A solution was created to control each of the bedside sconces from a controller inside the floating side tables. Allowing control of the mode and dimming of the lights from the bed. To remove the need for an electrical permit to add additional 120V wires the approach was to run small low-voltage wires lose in the wall from the side table to the fixture and have the controller inside the side table simply plug into an existing bedside outlet.
Built-in kitchen lighting
Due to the kitchen’s design, there were limited options for under-cabinet lighting and adequate illumination of the work surface due to the openings in the walls. The underside of the support beams served as an ideal position to illuminate the work surface including background lighting for the adjacent dining room and living room. Matching the wood species and grain texture to the cabinets gave a complimentary feel to the installation.
The Lines
What started as an early concept-sketch, became our client’s living room centrepiece. The low profile shape of the fixture sits well in the space. The busy yet relaxed illuminated the space directly below while the uplighting illuminates the space.
